After Effects versions, platforms and AI clients
Prism runs inside the After Effects versions professional teams use today, on both desktop operating systems, and pairs with any AI client that speaks MCP. The logic lives on Prism's server and the panel only runs each instruction, so compatibility comes down to three things: your After Effects version, your operating system, and your AI client.
After Effects versions
Prism ships as a panel that loads inside After Effects. The panel carries no logic of its own: Prism sends a small instruction, the panel runs it in After Effects and returns the result. That is why it stays compatible across recent releases without per-version builds.

On After Effects 2024 an earlier panel build is dropped silently, with no message. Download the current build from your dashboard; the install page covers the symptoms.
After Effects 2026 has a few version-specific quirks: the default stroke, intermittent operations, and PostScript font names. See troubleshooting if text looks clipped or an operation returns nothing the first time.
You can upgrade After Effects without losing your setup. Reinstall the panel in the new version if needed and sign in; you are already signed in in the browser, so it takes a moment.
Operating systems
The same panel and the same tools behave the same way on each platform. There are no platform-only features.

Prism is bring-your-own-AI. It works with any MCP-compatible client; you add one server entry, the same address for everyone, and it serves every client you use.

What stays the same across upgrades

Your account is what identifies you, not a machine, so each of these needs nothing but signing in.

No. Supported versions are After Effects 2024, 2025 and 2026. Earlier releases are not supported.
Yes, on panel version 1.4 or later. Earlier builds needed a newer extension runtime than 2024 ships, and are dropped silently. Download the current build from your dashboard.
No. The address is the same everywhere. Each client has its own place to paste an MCP server, and those config blocks are in connect your AI, but the address you paste does not change.
