I added Prism in the Claude app. Do I add it again in Claude Design?

No. Connectors belong to your Claude account and every Claude surface reads them.

What does Claude Design do differently from the Claude app?

Nothing on Prism's side. It sends the same requests to the same address; what differs is how you brief it.

Does Claude Design connect from my machine?

Claude connects to Prism from Anthropic's side, which is why the address is public and why the panel in After Effects must be open and signed in on your machine.

Connect Claude Design to After Effects: MCP Setup

Claude Design works from the same connectors as the rest of your Claude account. Add Prism once and Claude Design can read your open composition and build into it, the same way the Claude app does.

Install the Prism panel

Done in step 1 and step 2.

Add the connector

Open Connectors in Claude Design's settings (or add it once in the Claude app; the account shares them). Press +, name it Prism, paste https://live.oneprism.io/after-effects, leave the advanced fields empty and press Add.

Approve it in your browser

Claude opens your browser and asks you to confirm it is you. Until you approve, Claude Design cannot reach After Effects.

Open a composition and confirm the loop

Prism acts on whatever composition is open. Ask: "Tell me about my current composition."

If the client was already open, quit it and open it again

Save the address, then run the client's sign-in step. If your AI client was open before the address existed and does not show Prism, quit it and open it again: most clients load their connections at launch. Then open a composition and ask for it by name.
