Activation

How Prism licensing works: one permanent key per subscription covering every extension, two devices per plan, and a one-time paste to activate the panel in After Effects.

Prism uses a single, permanent license key. You paste it into the panel inside After Effects once, and that key keeps working as your plan changes and as new Prism extensions ship. There is nothing to renew by hand and no per-extension keys to track.

The short version
One permanent key — it never changes, even when you upgrade or downgrade.
The same key covers every current and future Prism extension.
Activate by pasting the key into the Prism panel once; it remembers the device.
Two devices per plan, across all tiers.

One key, every extension

When you subscribe through Polar checkout, you get one license key. It is tied to your subscription, not to a specific extension or plan, so it covers the After Effects panel today and any sibling extension Prism adds later — you do not buy or activate anything separately.

The key is permanent. Moving between Free and Pro updates your limits but never your key, so you only ever activate once per device.

Two devices per plan

Every plan allows the same key to be active on two devices at a time. That covers the common case of a desktop and a laptop, or a studio machine and a personal one. Prism runs on macOS and Windows, so the two activations can be split across either platform.

Paste the key once

Activation happens entirely inside the Prism panel — you paste the key in once, and Prism remembers that device so it survives panel reloads and you never re-enter the key on that machine. There is no terminal, no Node.js, and no build step.

You get the key from the License Portal, and from the same panel you go on to connect your AI client. For the step-by-step install and the per-client connection setup, see connect your AI to After Effects.

Where to find and manage your key

Everything about the key itself — copying it, changing your plan, downloading the panel, and freeing a device slot to move to another machine — lives in the License Portal, which covers it in full.

Common questions

  • Do I need a new key after upgrading? No. The same key stays valid and your limits update automatically.
  • Can I use Prism on a third machine? Two devices are active at once per plan; free a slot from the License Portal to move to another machine.
  • Is there a separate key for future extensions? No — your one key covers them all.
  • My key won't activate — what now? Confirm it is copied in full and that you are signed in to the right account; see troubleshooting for the rest.
